Each week we put 1-2 poems into our 3 prong poetry journals. Throughout the week we read, illustrate and do literacy activities such as finding sight words or punctuation. To download a pdf copy of the poems, click on that month's banner.

Apples are so good to eat,
To have them is a special treat.
Red, green, yellow, too, All of them are good for you!

Apple Core
Red and juicy, shiny, sweet,
Apple you're so good to eat.
Crisp and crunchy, healthy, too.
This core is all that's left of you!

Apple Happy
This is apple happy.
This is apple sad.
Now you see him sleepy.
Now you see him mad.
This is apple in pieces small,
But in a pie he is best of all.

Special Apples
These are special apples,
Hanging on this tree.
I made them with my fingerprints,
They’re a part of me!

A Little Apple Seed
Once a little apple seed
Was planted in the ground.
Down came the raindrops,
Falling all around.
Out came the big sun,
Bright as bright could be.
And that little apple seed grew up,
To be an apple tree.

The Apple Tree
Way up high in the apple tree,
Two little apples smiled down at me.
I shook that tree as hard as I could.
Down came the apples!
Mmm, they were good!

a smile up on your orange face!

The fifth one said, "I'm ready for some fun!"
”Whooo,” went the wind, And out went the light,
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.

Pumpkin Happy

Thank You
Thank you are the words we say.
Not just on Thanksgiving Day.
Thank you are two magic words.
Say them loud so they are heard.
Thank you are the words we say.
We give thanks in many ways!

Thanksgiving Colors
Orange is a pumpkin.
Yellow is the corn.
Brown is the turkey
With stuffing to adorn.
Red are the cranberries.
Green are the beans.
Five delicious colors-
In a feast of my dreams.

I Eat Turkey
(to the tune of “Frere Jacques”)
I eat turkey, I eat turkey.
Yes, I do, Yes, I do.
Turkey in my tummy,
Yummy, yummy, yummy.
Good for me, Good for you.

I Met a Turkey Gobbler
I met a turkey gobbler,
when I went out to play.
Oh, Mr. Turkey gobbler,
how are you today?
Gobble, gobble, gobble,
that I can not say.
Don't ask me such a question,
On Thanksgiving Day!

As fast as you can
You can't catch me!
I'm the Gingerbread Man!

Four Gingerbread Men

The first one said, “Let’s all run away!”
The second one said, “Where will we run?”
The third one said, “We’ll have some fun!”
The fourth one said, “We’ll be eaten if we stay.”
So the gingerbread men all ran away!
Gingerbread Man Happy
This is gingerbread man happy.

But on my plate he is best of all!

Snowman Happy
This is snowman happy.
This is snowman sad.
Now you see him sleepy.
Now you see him mad.

But in winter he is best of all.

The Cute Little Snowman
The cute little snowman,
Had a carrot nose.
Along came a rabbit,
And what do you suppose?
The hungry little rabbit,
Looking for his lunch.
Ate that snowman's carrot nose.
Nibble, nibble, CRUNCH!

Dr. King’s Dream
Treat people kindly;
do what is fair.
Work for all people;
show that you care.
These are the ways,
if we work as a team,
to remember the man who said,
“I have a dream”.

“Freedom, freedom, let it ring.”
“Let it ring” said Dr. King.
“Let us live in harmony.
Peace and love for you and me.”
“Freedom, freedom, let it ring.”
“Let it ring” said Dr. King

Their suits are black and their vests are white.
They waddle to the left and they waddle to the right.
They stand on the ice and they look very neat,
As they waddle along on their little flat feet.

I’m a Little Penguin
I'm a little penguin
Black and white
Short and wobbly
A real cute sight.
I can't fly at all,
But I love to swim.
So I'll waddle to the water
And dive right in.

The fuzzy caterpillar
crawled upon a leaf,
Spun her little chrysalis,
